Mama Nurture Circle

  • The Hive 205 Northwest Franklin Avenue Bend, OR, 97701 United States (map)

Mama Nurture Circle is a weekly circle that meets every Tuesday for 6 weeks from 6:30-8:30 pm at The Hive. This circle is part open processing (as in each person gets to choose what she wants to share with the group), guided discussion, short meditation, and a possibly a little experiential exploration.
Weekly format roughly looks like a short meditation to clear our mind and ground our body into the present, a check in, then we explore different topics from relationships to self-care and everything in between through art, writing and/or discussion.

Who
This is a circle for any type of mother (step, adopted, biological) in any stage of parenting (from pregnant moms to parents of adults) who are looking to gain a deeper connection to their self as well as other women. This is NOT a group just for new moms. Although this can be helpful for new moms, it is for moms at any stage who are ready to do some internal/emotional work to discover who she is in the current stage she is in. It's about coming home to the woman she is, not the woman she was.

Why
For many women, after becoming a mom her life is devoted to her child. In this devotion there are parts of herself she loses. For others, raising a child triggers all the parts of herself that were rejected as a child and she loses herself to the pain and rage she is dealing with. Some women are so convinced that there is a "right" way to parent and are stuck in controlling the environment around her in order to protect her child that she gets stuck in a constant anxious state. The struggles vary, but what is clear for most is that there is a sense of self that is lost. For many women, joining a circle of women who are really open and vulnerable can be healing, nurturing and can help women rediscover herself through the insights and stories other women share.
This offering fosters deep connection, vulnerability, truth, and awareness. For some it's the first radical step towards self care that can create the much needed change one is looking for.

What does a circle look like?
When in circle we put our attention on one woman to explore what her experience is like, essentially getting into deep relationship with what is most true and alive for her.
The experience of being seen for who we are is one of the most fulfilling experiences we can have. Being in circle teaches us exactly that, how to see and celebrate each woman for the uniqueness she brings to the world.
We don’t give advice or try to fix anyone. Rather, we welcome and stay with what is so we can relax into the truth of our experience, feel supported, know we are not alone and allow the experience of this to change us.
