Women's Heart Sing

Women's Heart Sing is an evening of opening up the heart through song!
We will sing kirtan - otherwise known as devotional chanting. We as women will bring our souls and our hearts together. We will go within to nurture ourselves, yet sing as one. We will love ourselves, love each other, and create community and friendships. It is our hope that you will leave with a deeper inner silence, and an open heart.
Kirtan is based on ancient chants that has its roots in India. A harmonium (like a pump-organ) will be played. Newworldkirtan.com describes kirtan this way, "Many of the songs are sung in Sanskrit, an ancient yogic language. When singing in Sanskrit you can be completely immersed in sound, with no words to distract the mind. The magic of the chant then carries you within. It has the ability to quiet the mind, but everyone experiences Kirtan differently.
Kirtan is non-denominational, the universal language of Spirit, the song of the Soul. You can think of it as a sing- a-long. Everyone sits on the floor in a circle while the lead singer (the wallah), sings the mantra and the group sings it back. As we sing we experience a deep connection with each other and ourself. When the music stops, the mind is quiet."

No experience necessary. Come even if you think you can't sing. All voices are welcome, and especially your big, beautiful hearts. We want women's hearts to sing!
